Heather Furnas, MD, earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science from Stanford University. After earning her medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) David Geffen School of Medicine, Dr. Furnas returned to Stanford University to complete a six-year residency in plastic surgery. She then received an appointment to the plastic surgery faculty at Harvard Medical School, where she met her husband and fellow surgeon, Dr. Canales. Since moving to Sonoma County, she has served as President of the Sonoma County Medical Association, a delegate to the California Medical Association and a member of the editorial board of Sonoma County’s Physician magazine.

Dr. Furnas is deeply committed to volunteering her time, services and expertise to help underprivileged children born with birth defects in developing countries, including Peru, Honduras, Western Samoa, the Philippines and El Salvador.
