Dr. Blecher earned his undergraduate degree at Brandeis University and his medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his residency at Wills Eye Hospital, serving as Co-Chief Resident his third year.

Dr. Blecher is Co-Director of the Cataract Department at Wills Eye Hospital and serves on the teaching faculty. He is also the medical director of TLC laser center in Mt Laurel, New Jersey, where he performs the majority of the refractive surgery.

In addition to performing surgery, Dr. Blecher plays a leadership role in prominent ophthalmology organizations such as the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, holding instructional courses at the national meetings of both organizations. Dr. Blecher is the Chief Medical Editor of Review of Ophthalmology.
