William J. Dupps Jr., MD, PhD, earned his master’s and doctoral degrees in Biomedical Engineering at The Ohio State University, where he also earned his medical degree with honors. He completed residency training in ophthalmology at the University of Iowa Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, a fellowship in ocular gene therapy at the National Eye Institute and a two-year Cornea and Refractive Surgery Fellowship at the Cole Eye Institute. Dr. Dupps is Associate Editor of the Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery, a leading scientific publication in the field of laser vision correction. With the help of grants from the National Institutes of Health, Research to Prevent Blindness and the National Keratoconus Foundation, Dr. Dupps runs an active interdisciplinary research program aimed at developing new diagnostic and therapeutic tools for improving corneal and refractive surgery.
